Sierra Tech Computers
Sierra Technical Institute was established in 1993, by owners Dean and Pamela Fender. The business began after Dean retired from the United States Air Force, and he began holding computer training seminars in their own home. Seminars ran in a rented classroom from August of 1993 to September of 1994, before they moved to their current location on the corner of Clark and Bille in Paradise. September 17, 1994 marked their first seminar held on location at 6390 Clark Rd.
As their business expanded, so did the range of services they provided. Instead of being merely a training center, Sierra Technical Institute became Sierra Tech Computers, now conducting computer sales and service as well. In 1995, the service side of Sierra Tech Computers became well known for its quality customer service and repair. More and more systems were being built and sold by Dean and his service staff, and Dean seized the opportunity to expand his range of service yet again. In 1996, he established Paradise Direct and began designing and hosting websites.
Another major expansion came when Dean and Pam expanded into their entire building. The extra room for training and service was a much needed addition, as they were now registered with the state of California as a short term seminar provider.
Since then, Sierra Tech Computers has gained recognition as an authorized dealer of Hewlett Packard, Intel, Microsoft, Kingston, Linksys and several other major hardware and software companies. In addition, Sierra Tech Computers is a dealer of Verizon Wireless, SaberNet Internet services and AVG Anti Virus.
Sierra Tech Computers currently employees six full time and three part time workers. They are currently registered with Chico State University as a continuing education provider, and they host over 40 different web sites. Several of the sites are for non-profit organizations; hosted for free by Sierra Tech. The employees of Sierra Tech Computers are more involved in the community than ever. Between them, the employees are involved in the following local clubs and organizations: The Paradise Chamber of Commerce, Paradise Rotary and Le Tip.
